It all started when…
SOULDEGA: What drew you into pursing photography?
SOUL FULL: Photography never really was something I’d thought I would do because for most of my life I’ve been an athlete. It wasn’t until i stopped playing basketball that I picked up a camera. My mom has always had cameras and took lots of pictures and make scrapbooks but it never occurred to me that I’d be doing photography. I took some classes in college as an elective and that’s where I learned film photography. Then it took off from there!
SOULDEGA: As a new mother, did you notice any change in your works or process of photographing ?
SOUL FULL: Yes even when i was pregnant i knew there was gonna be some stuff that I couldn’t do or didn’t want to do. I didn’t go out to do many shoots when I was pregnant so I decided to make a photography book.
SOULDEGA: We really enjoyed your virtual art show through your web site. It was a refreshing way to view an exhibit during such a challenging time. How did you come up with the idea?
SOUL FULL: The idea really came to me. I’ve been planning an actual art show but with everything going on I didn’t want people to think I wasn’t gonna have a show that they’ve been anticipating
SOULDEGA: What feeling do you hope your viewers walk away with?
SOUL FULL: I want people to feel HOPEFUL. To know there will be an end to this madness and that we must trust in each other, in Humanity to get through this.
SOULDEGA: We love the rawness you capture in your pieces. Can you name any photographers deceased or living who inspired your style?
SOUL FULL: I love Renell medrano from New York. I also love my mentor Richard Billick’s work
SOULDEGA: Lastly, how do you plan to continue on with your craft during this time difficult time of social distancing?
SOUL FULL: I plan to use Instagram and my website to share content that may bring hope and awareness. I may even try to photograph some things if I can.
